2022 NYC Big Book Award for Vernon Press book 'A Socio-Criminological Analysis of the HIV Epidemic' by Bruno Meini

We are pleased to annount that A Socio-Criminological Analysis (Vernon Press, 2020) by Bruno Meini has won the 2022 NYC Big Book Award in the category of Sociology.

Congratulations to the author!

The book offers a comprehensive analysis of the multifaceted socio-criminological dimensions of the HIV epidemic and positively contributes to the ongoing sociological debate on infectious diseases. In this volume, the author intends to create an independent epistemology of HIV to explicate the social forces that impact and determine the course and experience of the epidemic and also seeks to reframe the popular discourse on HIV to reflect sociological conceptualizations.

The book, which had already received words of praise by academics such as Prof. Ronald V. Clarke and Prof. Rick Sarre, was also winner of the Bridging Languages and Scholarship (BLS) Initiative award, and has been recently translated into and published in Spanish by Vernon Press.

Congratulations to Bruno Meini for this wonderful book and prize!
