Exploring Spanish Language Learning and Multilingualism in Western Canada
Published by Vernon Press in 2026, 'Exploring the Dynamics of Speaking and Learning Spanish in Western Canada' examines the experiences of Spanish speakers and learners in a predominantly English-speaking environment.
Drawing on eight years of mixed-methods research, including surveys, interviews, and virtual exchanges, Angela George investigates the motivations of Spanish language learners, teaching practices, language use, cultural perceptions, and the experiences of Spanish-speaking immigrant communities.
The book offers valuable insights into Spanish as an additional, heritage, and first language, highlighting the importance of inclusive language education and the recognition of linguistic diversity in Canadian society.
Its findings contribute to ongoing discussions in applied linguistics, sociolinguistics, language pedagogy, and multilingual education, making it a relevant resource for researchers, educators, and policymakers.
