About Vernon Press

Vernon Press is an independent publisher of bilingual scholarly books in the humanities and social sciences. Pluralism, intellectual diversity and openness are at the heart of what we do. Our mission is to provide a home for ideas of international importance and to embrace scholarship from underrepresented voices and perspectives. We build close, long-lasting relationships with all stakeholders in order to identify and develop valuable titles. We combine editorial and marketing expertise with a commitment to the highest academic standards.

Recognition

Over the years, our books have been recognized with a number of prestigious awards, including the Historic Preservation Book Prize 2021, the Research prize by the #StopCorruption Association, and the 2020 Society of Professors of Education Outstanding Book Award. We were also awarded the 2020 Miguel Covarrubias Prize, among others. In addition to these awards, many of our books have been favorably reviewed in academic journals and endorsed by independent professional publications such as ACL's Choice.

Our commitment to high-quality scholarship has been recognized by inclusion on the official lists of academic publishers maintained by government agencies in several countries.

Discoverability

Our books and ebooks can be found in thousands of academic libraries worldwide, as reported by libraries participating to WorldCat. Our titles are indexed in several major databases, including Bowkers Books in Print, Nielsen, and Ingram Content. Our books are also included in specialized databases such as RePEc for economics, PhilPapers for philosophy, and CNKI for the Chinese market. Our books' interiors are searchable and partly viewable on Google Books and Amazon's "Look Inside The Book" feature. Each book's page on our website uses web meta tags to ensure it is indexed by search engines such as Google Scholar and Microsoft Academic.

In addition to being available in libraries, our ebooks can be purchased and accessed through popular electronic collections such as EBSCO, Proquest, and Cyberlibris. They are also available on Google Play. As a member of the YBP Approval Plan, Vernon Press is among a select group of academic publishers whose titles are profiled by the largest library wholesaler, potentially reaching over 4,000 libraries worldwide. We have also partnered with RNIB to make our titles available to print-disabled readers upon request. Finally, as a member of CrossRef, we use Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) to make it easy to discover and link to our electronic publications.
